马修·麦康纳 (Matthew McConaughey) 在他的自传作品 Greenlights 里提到他年轻时候的一个故事：

20 岁那年，马修·麦康纳还在得克萨斯大学读法律预科，一切都朝着安全的律师职业前进。读完大二，他总觉得一切都不太对，他算了一下，等读完法律毕业出来就 26 岁了… 感觉有点太晚了。

他平时写日记的时候很爱写一些小故事，他也会把这些故事寄给一位他在纽约的朋友 Robb Bindler，这位朋友在 NYU 学电影。这位朋友觉得他写的故事很不错，就和他提要不要去学电影？

他被这个提议打动了，法律专业也越来越读不动，他决定转去读电影。
